No-Smoking Policy

Although the majority of people in Nigeria are non-smokers, most people are aware of the evidence that links smoking/e-smoking with ill health and disease.

The staff of DWC & E who do not smoke have the right to breathe smoke-free air. Consequently, the management of DWC & E has adopted a no-smoking policy, which applies to the working environment. 

DWC & E therefore recognises its duty to afford employees, contractors, students and visitors to the organization; the right to work or visit in a tobacco-smoke-free atmosphere.

POLICY
Smoking is strictly prohibited within all company work areas and public spaces including conference rooms, private offices, reception areas, restrooms, stairwells, hallways and workstations, as well as all other enclosed areas. This policy applies to all employees, clients, contractors and visitors.

No additional breaks beyond those allowed under the company’s break policy may be taken for the purpose of using tobacco products. Employees may smoke outside the premises during breaks.

COMPLAINT PROCEDURE
All complaints received for violation of this policy should be brought to the attention of the victim’s supervisor and must be investigated as confidentially as possible. All employees are expected to cooperate fully with any such investigation.

Violation of this policy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of appointment.
