Service Type: Riser Engineering services to be deployed by a Nigerian National.
Service Description
- Ensure HSSEQ Compliance: Ensure all riser engineering, construction, and installation activities comply with HSSEQ (Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality) standards and promote a safety-first culture on-site.
- Enforce IOGP (International Oil and Gas Producers) HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies and procedures at Company worksites.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary Detailed Engineering Design for the project, focusing on riser systems and related appurtenances.
- Review and provide input to technical specification documents, analysis reports, drawings, and other detailed engineering documents for the pipeline and riser system and other interfacing systems.
- Ensure technical assurance of riser-related deliverables during the Detail Design phase, including all interfaces with other disciplines.
- Manage technical queries during design, procurement, fabrication, and installation phases, including any applicable qualification and testing.
- Oversee interfaces with Subsea Hardware, FPSO, and Umbilical systems.
- Conduct intra and multi-discipline technical reviews, including HAZIDs, HAZOPs, Constructability reviews, Human Factor Engineering Reviews, and Reliability and Availability and Maintainability Studies.
- Ensure engineering work is completed and verified in accordance with project quality procedures.
- Review, critique, verify, and approve analysis/design of pipeline and riser systems, serving as an in-house SME familiar with analysis methods and tools.
- Apply knowledge of applicable industry codes and Shell requirements to ensure safe design and operations, working collaboratively with other disciplines.
- Collaborate effectively with engineering houses and other Community of Practice (CoP) Engineering disciplines within the Company.
- Demonstrate personal commitment to company HSSE objectives and motivate the team to be HSSE champions.
- Provide engineering input on alternative installation techniques proposed by the Contractor.
- Witness site activities including Site Receipt Inspection, Factory Acceptance Test, and confirm compliance with the approved procedure.
- Provide technical support in preparation for pipeline construction, offshore operations, and field installations. This includes:
- Reviewing installation procedures and method statements for Risers and Flowlines.
- Reviewing installation analysis for flowlines, risers, and spool pieces to validate installation methods and tools, including heavy offshore lifting plans.
- Liaising with the Quality Assurance discipline to ensure alignment between QA/QC requirements and technical specifications.
- Liaise with Company’s Lifting and Hoisting SME (Subject Matter Expert) to review lift plans, rigging registers, and support safe lifting operations.
- Responsible for safe, timely, and efficient execution and driving progress of work scope based on the project schedule.
- Work with Contractor to ensure quality issues are properly identified, documented, reported, and timely dispositioned.
- Author and deliver daily, weekly, and monthly status, progress, and site reports.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders (e.g., Quality, HSE, project control, engineering disciplines, planning) to ensure adequate support for project execution.
- Log and track lessons learned during the detailed design and manufacturing activities within the Package.
Requisite Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years work experience with at least 8 years relevant experience directly related to riser and pipeline systems within an upstream Deepwater or similar environment.
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Subsea Engineering, or equivalent, with professional registration.
- Experience with analysis techniques for offshore pipeline and riser construction.
- Proficient in engineering VIV strakes, stress joints, and wet insulated systems.
- Strong understanding of project-specific requirements, design analysis, and technical documentation.
- Hands-on experience in offshore pipeline design, installation engineering, and project engineering.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication, machining, and mechanical systems.
- Experience in pipeline construction and repair methods.
- Proficient in Orcaflex and Shear7 software.
- Proficient in Offpipe, Abaqus, or Pipelay software.
- Good understanding and application of relevant industry standards and codes (DNV, API, ASME, etc.).
- Knowledge in the use of MS Office tools or similar software.
- Ability to communicate, work, interface, interact, and influence effectively within a multi-disciplinary team of professionals located globally.
- Knowledge of personal and process safety.
